To fill a sustainable urban development gap, there is a need for the transformation of circular economy and renewable energy concepts/principles into the social and spatial context of cities and the built environment. This microcredential aims to upskill various industry sectors to facilitate national, regional, and local sustainability targets.

By the end, you’ll be equipped with essential skills for thriving fields like sustainability consulting, urban planning, green building design, and resource management. You’ll be prepared to pioneer transformative changes in alignment with regional and global sustainability goals.

How will you be assessed?

Acting as circular city innovators and sustainability consultants, you’ll design and propose a circular city initiative. You’ll create a detailed proposal outlining a strategy for transitioning a specific urban sector or function towards circularity.

Through this exercise, you’ll integrate key concepts, strategies, and implementation methods learned throughout the microcredential, while also undertaking critical reflection tasks at key points. You’ll also complete three quizzes throughout the microcredential.

The final assessment is a 2,500-word written submission.

Upon successful completion of the written assessment, you’ll be awarded 0.5 Postgraduate Level Credits from Deakin University, and a Credly digital badge. You can build up your credits by completing more microcredentials offered by Deakin University.
