Well done on finishing Week 1. Key learning points include:

  • Data can be used to explore antibiotic prescribing behaviour and improve management of infections
  • Where to find local data on antibiotic prescribing and resistance
  • GP information systems and clinical coding can support audits in your practice
  • TARGET has a number of different audits for common infections

We hope you have enjoyed this first introductory week and that you found the discussion with Dr Tom Lewis and the Litchdon Medical Practice useful to understand how you can find data about antibiotic prescribing in your own practice and also practical tips to conducting your own audit.

In Week 2, we will explore antibiotic prescribing for urinary tract infections.

If you would like to watch the full video, which was included in the PHE TARGET webinar series and includes the live panel discussion and useful links, please follow this link to the TARGET webinars.

Use of health behavioural pledges have shown to increase knowledge and influence behaviour. As part of this course, we encourage you to create an action plan like the downloadable version that is available as an attachment at the bottom of the page. This form also gives you the opportunity to reflect back on each week of the course as you work through them, making valuable notes for future reference.
