Week 4 Further Reading

Optional extra reading on waste generation.
This is optional extra reading and not required for this course.

For those of you who wish to explore this week’s topic further, here is an excellent resource to get started.

Let’s face it, if you have a computer with a stable internet connection to take this course, you’re probably one of the lucky people in this world who has their rubbish collected and doesn’t have to scavenge the landfill for your next meal or an income. In developing nations without effective waste management streams, these are real issues with real human and environmental effects. This week’s open-access review article takes us there and examines the effects in detail, with case studies and a thourough review of the existing scientific literature on solid waste management in the developing world.
