The Essentials of Effective Team Leadership and the Management of Change for Service Improvement
Learn about leadership and effectiveness
This course looks at models of leadership and team management, the interpersonal aspect of making real service improvements.
Emphasis is on you critically reflecting and learning from your positive and negative experiences of leading and being led.
It will also cover the roles and nature of interactions in working relationships and influence based on attributes such as: authority (eg being ‘in charge’); resources (eg being a ‘budget holder’); intelligence (eg using evidence and critical thinking as well as values and ethics); and personality (eg a charismatic leader or a bully).
What topics will you cover?
- Summary of evidence of what makes a healthcare team ‘effective’
- Critically reflecting on the benefits of team effectiveness in relation to service improvement
- Considering the interactive nature of working relationships and how to influence them in implementing service improvement projects
- Models of leadership
- Models of change
