Established in 1897, The King’s Fund is an independent charitable organisation working to improve health and care in England. Syllabus

  • Week 1

    Build a house (the foundations of organisational development)

    • Image of six smaller houses across two rows, three on each. Each looks different and has a different shape.

      Introduction

      Find out more about how this course will work and what you can expect from the next three weeks.

    • A cross-section of a house with different rooms. Inside each room a person is doing a different housebuilding activity. For example, painting or building a wall.

      Explore foundational ideas about what OD is and what it's for.

  • Week 2

    Make a home (the practice of organisational development)

    • Three people doing different housework-related tasks: sweeping, cooking and cleaning windows.

      Housework

      In this first part we'll establish some simple ways to help you organise your OD work so you don't get lost.

    • Cross-section of a house with four rooms. In each room, a person is doing a homemaking activity. For example, painting the walls.

      Homemaking

      Here we will look at three key OD practices worth knowing and getting good at.

  • Week 3

    Live in it (the dynamics of organising)

    • Cross-section of a house with four rooms and a garage. In one room, someone is sitting on the floor, and in another room two people are having dinner.

      Homelife

      Here we'll explore why organisational life and change can be so unpredictable, despite the best laid plans.

      In this final section we'll consider the role and nature of groups and social networks in (and beyond) organisational life.
