Culture in the Context of Education and Schools
How varied is the culture of schools and how is it formed?
During this course you will have the chance to investigate different educational cultures, how leaders create and lead school culture, and the relationship between culture and school effectiveness.
Towards the end of this short course you will have the opportunity to analyse the culture in your school and apply your learning to consider how you would like to change it.

- Why do independent schools do so much better than most state schools?
- The emergent effect of culture
- KIPP culture – schools in impoverished geographical areas
- Creating and leading a school culture
- Understanding a school’s culture
- What is the culture like in your school and how would you like it to be different?

- Investigate different educational cultures and their effects on school effectiveness
- Understand the reasons why different establishments have different cultures and analyse what can be learned about how leadership impacts school cultures
- Analyse different school cultures in case studies of three different educational scenarios
- Analyse what the culture in your school is like and how you would like to change it
